I’ve spent the last ten years in education – and I have really enjoyed it. Funny enough, I never thought I would. Despite personality tests nudging me toward teaching, I just wasn’t interested.

That changed on my daughter’s first day of Kindergarten. She strolled happily, single file down the school hallway, while I—wiping away crocodile tears—became fascinated by the school environment. That moment led me to join the ranks of educators, and, well, the rest is history!

But here’s the reality: Education doesn’t pay nearly enough for the countless roles we take on. With tuition, mortgages, elder care, student loans, and life’s expenses, extra income isn’t just a luxury—it’s a necessity. And frankly, it’s infuriating to see dedicated educators forced into second jobs just to make ends meet. Teaching should be valued enough that no one has to sacrifice their evenings, weekends, or rest just to survive.

That’s why I started Smart Hustles—to help educators keep the career they love without sacrificing financial stability. Through smart side hustles, we can take control of our finances while still dedicating ourselves to education—because teachers deserve both passion and prosperity.
